Real Story: Jean Myles

Question: What is your name?

Answer: Jean Myles

Question: Can you tell us about your business? Please include the business name, and the website url. How long have you been in business?

Answer: For two yeas I have been a member of Internet CEO Moms. We are marketing executives for a large health and wellness company. We refer others to shop with the company and set up wholesale customer accounts.  We are an Inc 500 company and are backed by the BBB.

My website URL is www.JaysMomIsHome.com

Question: What made you decide to work from home? Was there a turning point in your life that made you seek being a business owner? Please share your story.

Answer:When I had my first son Jaylen in October of 2006, I was supposed to go back to teaching Kindergarten the next school year, but I really wanted to be home with him without the financial stress. We were going further and further into debt without even thinking about putting away money for our futures and our sons’ educations.  I realized that something in our life had to change.

Jaylen was diagnosed with Autism shortly after I joined our team and it is great that I can work around his therapy schedules.  We welcomed our second son, Xavier, in November of 2008 and I just love that I can work at home alongside my two boys.  I am so proud knowing that I will soon be at my goals of replacing my teaching income, paying off our debt, and even putting some money away, all while being home with my family.

The best part is that I am helping other mothers do the same!  Anyone can do this and have the freedom to work around their family.

Question: What is the 1 hurdle that you have had to overcome or are trying to over come at this minute?

Answer: As far as my business goes, it is finding time to work.  I stick to my 2 set aside business hours a day, but I need more.  In order to reach my goals, I need to be able to double those business hours.  My husband works out of the home so I am the homemaker and child care provider during the day, and sometimes at night when he is freelancing as a drummer.  Jaylen’s special needs really make it tough to work when he is awake.  Hence, my 2 hours when he is napping or in bed at night.

If you are trying to reach some financial goals in your work from home, you need to treat what you do as a business not a hobby.  Don’t just dabble in it, work it.  It takes motivation and persistence to be your own boss and do it well.  Set some firm goals, on paper, make a plan, and stick to it!
