Published Author’s Tip: Monetize Your Newsletter

As a published author you spend quite a bit of time creating your newsletter, filling it with educational information for your readers,  so why not add some of that ‘time’ back into your pocket by taking advantage of two popular ways of adding some money back into your budget.

Here are a few ideas to help you monetize your newsletter.

  1. Advertising -Create a page on your website or blog that tells your readers that you have a newsletter that reaches X amount of readers per mailing and that you have advertising spots available. Once you have your page created then you will want to connect with business owners (local and virtual) who spend time communicating to the same target readers as yourself.  By ‘connecting’ I mean in person, at networking groups, in your twitter stream and fan page.
  2. Affiliates- Signup with Amazon.com and other affiliate programs that offer products and/or services that benefit your target readers and add those to your newsletter. Maybe showcasing one or two different products with each mailing to give your readers a variety.

To your success!

Increase Your Business with Marketing

I came across this SCORE Chicago video and thought it was great and to the point. Since I don’t believe in reinventing the wheel, I thought I’d share this video with you.

I think there comes a time in every solo-preneurs life when we have to decide what action step we are going to take in order to decrease our “hands on” work time and learn how to outsource. Outsourcing is the only way to continue to grow your revenue and still be able to enjoy your taking time off from work.

Basically, if you are wanting to increase your revenue then you should do this by increasing your marketing, not by hiring more sales personnel.

Here’s the video!

Transcription services your business needsTranscription, what comes to mind when you hear that word? I’m going to bet you think of “medical”, right? Well, don’t worry, many people have thought that transcription was only for medical professionals, but its not. In fact, successful online marketers and companies of all sizes use transcription in their business on a regular basis.

What can you transcribe?

Here is a list of transcription ideas that can help you reach more clients and increase your sales.

  1. Your videos
  2. Your podcast interviews
  3. Your speaking audios
  4. Your articles
  5. Your phone consultations

When you transcribe your audio content you are also giving the hearing impaired an opportunity to learn more about your business solutions.

To increase your ROI (return on investment) you can take those same transcripts and create blog content, articles, info-products, content for your ezine and even to submit answers to requests for written interviews.

In closing, ask yourself “am I leaving potential clients in the dust simply because I do not have transcripts available to them?”
